Conference Dinner
This will be held on the first night of the conference, Monday 21st January 2008. The venue is the National Wine Centre, which hosts a world class restaurant where you can savour international class South Australian wines. The centre is in a wonderful botanic setting and the warm January weather will enhance the moment. Consequently the dress code for the event will be light formal.
Sightseeing
Adelaide and South Australia has many first class tourist attractions. We have chosen two as representative of what this state has to offer-The Barossa Valley, Australia's premier wine district, and Kangaroo Island, an unspoilt natural attraction. Both are best enjoyed as all-day trips, and the conference has been tailored to suit
Barossa Valley
The Barossa Valley Tour is on Sunday 20th January 2008. Pickup will be at 0830 direct from Adelaide city accommodation. The day will include morning visits to Penfolds Winery, Rockford Winery and Grant Burge Winery followed by a regional platter lunch at Barossa Vines.
During the afternoon, we will visit Yalumba winery followed by (if time permits) a visit to Angas Park dried fruits. Return to the city will be by 1700.
Kangaroo Island
The Kangaroo Island Tour is on Thursday 24th January 2008. It is a full day, so pickup will be at Adelaide city accommodation at 0630. The trip to the island includes a 45 minute ferry trip, arriving at Penneshaw on the island at 1000.
Before lunch at the Vivonne Bay store, we will experience a guided tour of Seal Bay and a visit to Little Sahara. Afterwards we visit the Koala Walk, the Flinders Chase visitors centre, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and Cape de Couedic.
We return to Penneshaw at 1830 for a local fish and chips dinner, then onto the ferry, a relaxing trip via the Fleurieu Peninsula and back in Adelaide at approx 2230.
There is a possibility that a fire danger might be declared
for Kangaroo Island in which case we will take another appropriate tour.
